A good way to explore Maribor

My partner and I stayed in Maribor for a day, so we thought we’d take a tour first and then explore on our own in the afternoon. Our idea worked out well. Our tour started at 11 am and lasted a good three hours, during which we learnt a lot about Maribor’s history. It was far easier to decide what else interested us after that. It was also just us and the guide, so we had plenty of time to chat about Slovenia. The wine was excellent, all of it local. The food was a little less regional and more Slovenian, very tasty, and we enjoyed chatting about what Slovenians consider their traditional food and what they actually eat. WeCopy enjoyed the tour a lot!!

Fun and Delicious!

This tour was an easy way to have a great afternoon. The tour passed really quickly, those three hours went by in no time, and good beer and food definitely helped with that. Our guide did a really good job, she knew a lot about the town and beer. Some tastes were quite new to me, like the sour beer, and I've never tried combining beer with chocolate before, but it works, that was a good idea.

Make sure to come hungry!

We booked the Food is Love tour, looking forward to the wine tasting and mostly disregarding the food. Oh, we were so wrong. The food was absolutely delicious, and there was so much of it we could barely finish. Good thing we had to walk from destination to destination between eating :) We’re glad we booked the tour. Otherwise we never could have tried so many different wines and dishes, and we wouldn’t even think of ordering some of those if we were on our own. Highly recommend if you like variety, but make sure to come hungry.

Quite the Selection.

I consider myself a hop head. As in I realy like beer. I really enjoyed this tour, the guide was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all questions I had well. I have been on some beer tours, and what impressed me the most here was the wide selection of different beers and what i respect was that ALL these beers were made in Slovenia. It seems Slovenians have a kind of beer rennesaince going on. The guide was awesome, you could see that he really enjoys doing the tour, he was making a joke that its the best way to not just get FREE beer but also really GOOD beer. He kept making beer jokes through the afternoon that made the whole table laugh. A small price for the amount you get in the tour.
